How was your Mothers Day?

Yesterday I celebrated another Mother’s Day. My children may not have let me sleep late but I received the usual......cards, flowers and even had my nails done at my favorite salon. But the biggest part of the day was shopping for new trainers aka tennis shoes. My lovely other half and our son have been begging me for MONTHS to get new ones. I saw nothing wrong with the ones I had. They were name brand after all and most importantly they were COMFORTABLE.

They of course jumped on the opportunity to use Mother’s Day as a chance for me to get a new pair of shiny shoes that will eventually become dull from spending my weekends on the soccer field.

As we walked thru aisles of shoes, I could feel myself getting agitated. I only like to shop when I’m ready to....not at the spur of the moment. I like to take my time and I usually like to shop ALONE. Instead I have my lil man and my big man pointing out every pair of fluorescent Nike’s they came across. Did they really think I was going to sport electric yellow shoes? Their response? “But we want to keep up with you....and never lose you because we love you” ha....ha.....HAH. You just want me to be the “cool” mom cheering you on from the sidelines.

Of course I loved their attempts and yes I did end up finding a pair of trainers that I liked and that put me in the “cool crowd”.

You know what would have made this process easier for me (mom)? A gift card. I could have then gone on my “own” time. Hey, it would have gotten me out of the house and away from dishes and screaming kids wouldn't it?

A Snomee would have been a great way to present this. A unique gift dome...two gifts in one....truly a gift that keeps on giving. What unique gifts did you receive for Mother’s Day this year?
